Fears that housing bid will harm habitats

Residents living in the Chewton Common Road area have written to BCP Council to raise concerns about a proposed development of new housing in the Bramble Lane conservation area. They fear that it will ‘tear the heart out this unique area’.

Merryfield Homes have put forward plans to develop land off Chewton Common Road and build two three-bedroom homes on the site.

Dozens of letters of objection have been written to BCP stating that the development has all of the worst elements of a housing scheme. The Bramble Lane conservation area is one of 12 areas designated within Christchurch and residents have expressed concern about the loss of habitat, including 11 protected trees.
